Did you know???

Did you know that Sodium Polyacrylate is the chemical used to absorb in disposable diapers? Some facts about Sodium Polyacrylate:
- was banned from tampon in 1985 because of it's link to Toxic Shock Syndrome
- has killed children after ingesting only 5 grams of it

There was also a study done proving that disposable diapers contain small dosages of Dioxin and Dioxin is a chemical that can cause cancer & infertility in males!!

Disposable diapers represent 30% of non-biodegradable waste in landfills. Each baby diapered with disposables contributes to about 1 ton of garbage if they are diapers for an average of 2 years. One ton is a lot of garabage that will be around for years and years and years in a landfill.

So, if you decided to use cloth or disposables, all I ask is that you do your research and make the best choice for the most precious thing you will ever receive, your baby!

Allergies. Blah.

I am so tired of whatever the weather is doing. First, my hair, ugh. Its so nasty in this weather, and I need a haircut!!! Then, Bradley, Brady and I all have stuffy noses, then runny noses, then itchy throat, you know the drill. Its soo annoying. I think Brendan is starting to not feel good either..I have tried benadryl, day quil, and Claritin. Does anyone know of something that will work?!?!?!

I've had my moments

There are times in life that something as simple as a song can completly change your life. Today, I experienced this. I have heard this song a million times, and I always love it. It always gives me chills, but today, it was differant. It touched me in a way that it never had. And I realized in my life, I've had my moments.

The song: Moments
The artist: Emerson Drive
The lyrics: "I've had my moments, days in the sun. Moments, I was second to none. Moments, when I knew I did what I thought I couldn't do. Like the day I walked away from the wine for a woman who became my wife. And a love that, when it was right, could always see me through. Looking at me now you might not know it, but I've had my moments."
The impact: I am nearing 30 and I finally have grown enough confidence to say that I have had my moments. Moments that I am proud of.
1. The day I delivered my first son. This, by far was the most accomplished moment in my life. 14 hours. Out came the most beautiful thing I had ever seen in my life. Brendan Michael.
2. The day I married my best friend. That day, June 10th, 2005 was the most amazing day. I knew that I was with the man that I would grow grey hair with. That day, I had comfort that I would always be protected. I knew that Brad would provide (in way more ways then financial).
3. The day I delivered Bradley James. I felt everything. I got to the hospital at 6-7 cm.
4. The day we purchased our first new furnature. There was something about this day that made me very proud.
5. The day we planned a pregnancy :)
6. The day I delivered my last son, Brady Paul.
7. The day I sucessfully nursed my first baby.
8. The day we paid off our first car.
9. The day my son got Olympian of the month.
10. The day I took the trash to the curb myself :)

These are a few of the moments that I am proud of!

Easiest meal EVER!

I am a big fan of cheap, easy, simple, good meals. And I like the crockpot too! Today, I am sharing a meal that is super duper simple and can feed a family of 6 three nights!
First, pinto beans. The kind in the bag that is like 39 cents or something. I soak them in water overnight. Then rinse them, and throw them in the crockpot on low for 12 hours. A salt and pepper them and add water to cover the beans. That's it!

Then, the culprits for my scrumptious cornbread (yes, I am a southerner and I love my corncake sweet!)
I use 2 boxes and add everything on the handy dandy Jiffy box (x's 2) and then I drain a can of cream corn and throw in!

Viola! Amazing easy meal!! ~and yes, I always use a pink bowl!

Big papa

This morning as I was packing Brendan's lunch I decided I would look at his journal entry from yesterday. He does this for school. They just write 4 or 5 sentences about their day, or sometimes I give him a subject to write about. It's not a grade, but it encourages them to write. I started to read it, and the tears started filling my eyes:
It reads: "My dad was gone all day. I was sad. My dad came home. I was happy. I played outside."
Now, if that doesn't tug at your heartstrings, let me tell you why it tugs mine. I know it sounds cliche, but any man can be a father, it takes a real man to be a Daddy. A man that plays catch with his son, a man that goes to Dads and Donuts, a man that let's his 7 year old crawl in bed when he's had a nightmare. This is a real man. I realize today more than ever, how lucky Brendan and I are. Brad has changed both of our lives in more ways than I can even express on this blog. He has grown into the *best* father in the world. He sincerely wants his kiddos to know that they are loved. And this, I am thankful for!

My love for soft soled shoes.

My neighbor (the smart one) has shown me lots of things over the past year to help be thrifty. She has shown me that its ok for mama's to cut thier kids hair, she has shared sales ads with me, but this time was differant. This time she was enabling me to spend money :D
Her litter chunkers has the cutest shoes and I wanted a pair for BPaul. I looked on Etsy and found the place that she got hers, but I was still searching and found these:

We are major music people and guitars is one of the main things that made us a family (if ya know what I mean ;) ) Then I found these boots! Brady always wants to wear boots with his Bubba and Daddy. They are so cute! He wanted to wear them to bed! Doesn't he look like a little redneck babe?

Played out!

Bradley & Brady had been playing in the playroom for a while, and I started wondering why they weren't fighting, arguing, laughing, etc. I walked in to find this:
Tell me that isn't the cutest thing ever!

Swagbucks!

Swagbucks has always been and probably will always be my favorite revenue stream, simply because it is good. Swagbucks is a search engine that pays you back a part of it's ad revenue. When you refer others, as I do through this blog, you get more. I refer, which means my blog readers are earning through their regular searching, and so am I. It is my favorite because I think I am doing a good thing by spreading the word about Swagbucks. If you decide to join, please say I referred you!! I think you will just need my email, which is supermom81@yahoo.com!

Going green

Ok, maybe I am still horrid at recycling, but i try. I do, however, love cloth diapers :) We went on a cloth break after we moved in here, and thru the summer, but I honestly got sick of buying diapers and throwing them away. Its literally like just putting money in the trashcan. I also got tired of leaks (at night) and I hated the way disposables feel and smell. I also hated having poop in the house/garage/backyard until trash day :yuck: So, we decided to spoil our little boys bottom again, and go back to cloth. Would you rather wear paper undies or velour undies?? 'Nuff said :) Now, onto the cuteness, enjoy the pics!

New year, new blog!

I have decided to start a new blog. I always start one and somehow in the mix of things, it gets put off. I feel like life has slowed down a little lately though, and my life is not in constant fast forward.
Brad has went from playing a million (ok, not a million, more like 4) softball teams, to playing 1! This is a HUGE step :) We have thoroughly enjoyed having him home during the week! I feel like I am a co-parent! Woohoo for change!
It is also very bittersweet to not have a baby in the house. For the past 7 years, my hip has had a kiddo connected to it, along with a huge diaper bag & the God awful infant carseat. It is nice to know that we can pick up and go without much planning. We can go and eat at a restaurant without worrying about how we will heat up the bottle, or I can go to Walmart without completly stressing about the nasty germ-y people looking at my baby :P When it's time for bed, we go to bed, which has in part the bittersweetness....No more rocking the littles to bed. Of coarse, there will always be nightmare nights, or hold-me-mama nights, but not everynight. This, by far, is my favorite pasttime; rocking my boys to sleep. Life has slowed down in this way as well, no more itty bitty babes...no more waking to nurse every 3 hours...no more sucking boogers out with that nose sucker thingy...no more oragel...no more pacifiers...I could go on & on!
I have also slowed down on cleaning (which could be a cause for concern for some) but I have learned so far, in my 28 years of life and 7 years of mommyhood, that with 3 young kids, what the heck is the point of a spotless house? Brad took the boys to see PaPa on Saturday and I cleaned this house spotless...12 minutes after they got home, it was a wreck again. So, I will let my kids have toys in the living room, I will let them sleep on pallets in the playroom, I will let them lick the cake batter off the spoon, and all will be ok.
My Bradley James has started pre-K! He goes on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-2:30. He LOVES it. I think it is so great for him. He needs the structure and interaction with the other kiddos his age. He does so well, and I am amazed at how big he is becoming, and how far we have come. It also gives me & Brady one on one time, which he has never had. He always asks "Where's Bubba" And I say "At school" And Brady says "Where's Bradby?" Soooooo cute!
Anyways, here's to 2010! Let the fun begin!!!
